Two Little Extras to Make Your Card Special
1. Add a Christmas Memory Pocket
You’ll need a small rectangle of paper, a glue stick, and a few little paper slips. Glue the sides and bottom of the rectangle inside your finished card, leaving the top open to make a pocket.
Ask your child to draw or write a favorite memory with the recipient on each slip. It could be baking with Grandma, reading with Dad, or playing with a cousin. Tuck the slips into the pocket and write “A few reasons you make me smile” on the front. Keep the pocket and notes small enough for the card to close.
2. Make a Matching Handmade Envelope
Take a plain envelope that fits your folded card, some crayons, and a scrap of paper to put inside while decorating. Copy one simple detail from the card onto the envelope, such as a bow, candy cane, paw print, or Christmas light.
Use the same colors as the card, then let your child add the recipient’s name. If you’re posting it, keep the address and stamp areas clear. For hand-delivered cards, they can add a little “Made just for you” message on the back.
I hope these free printable Christmas cards to color help you make something lovely for the people you care about. Whether the kids are decorating a card for Nana or you’re choosing one for your other half, a few favorite colors and a thoughtful message can make it feel really personal.
Don’t worry about staying inside every line or finding the perfect words. The lovely part is knowing someone took the time to make a card just for you. Pick your favorites, get the crayons out, and enjoy a little Christmas creativity together. Merry Christmas from CraftyCiciJoy!

Christmas Card Questions & Answers
From choosing your paper to adding that little message inside, here are a few tips for making your Christmas cards.
Are these printable Christmas cards free?
Yes! All the Christmas cards in this collection are free to download and print, with no sign-up needed. Choose a favorite or print a few for different people on your Christmas list.
How do I print these Christmas cards?
Click the download button beneath your chosen card and open the downloaded file. Select landscape orientation and check the print preview to make sure the whole card fits. Choose “fit to page” if needed, then print on one side of the paper.
How do I fold the cards?
Fold along the dotted center line, keeping the Christmas design on the outside at the front and the little “Colored with love by” section on the back. The inside is blank for your message or a drawing. Coloring the card while it’s still flat makes it easier to reach all the little details.
Should I print on paper or cardstock?
Regular printer paper works nicely for a simple coloring activity. If you’d like the finished card to feel a little sturdier, use white cardstock that your printer can handle. Both work, so there’s no need to buy anything special if you already have paper at home.
What can we use to color the cards?
Crayons and colored pencils are lovely for these designs. Markers work too, but pop a spare sheet underneath while coloring and test them first, as some can show through the paper. Kids can also add their own stripes, spots, and little patterns to the open letters.
Are these Christmas cards suitable for kids and adults?
Absolutely! Many designs have big letters and open spaces that children can enjoy coloring, while adults can take their time with the bows, ornaments, and smaller details. There are cards for family, friends, teachers, and partners, so grown-ups can join in too.
What should I write inside a homemade Christmas card?
A short, personal message is plenty. Try “I made this just for you. Merry Christmas!” or mention something you love about the person receiving it. You’ll find a suggested message beside each card if you need a little help getting started.
What if my child is too young to write a message?
A little drawing is just as lovely. You could also ask your child what they want to say and write their words for them. Let them add their own mark or attempt at their name on the back. Those little details make a homemade card feel special.
Can I add extra decorations?
Of course! A few stickers, a paper heart, or a small ribbon bow can make the card feel even more personal. Keep anything bulky away from the fold, and let glue dry before closing the card or putting it in an envelope.
What size envelope will I need?
That depends on your paper size and print settings. Measure the finished folded card and choose an envelope slightly larger. If you print the design across a full A4 sheet and fold it in half, a C5 envelope will usually fit.
