30 Free Printable Winter Activity Sheets for Kids
These free printable winter activity sheets are full of snowy little things to draw, color, count and explore! I’ve put together 30 different activities, from penguin puzzles and winter word games to a dream hot chocolate, a speedy sled and a very cute polar bear cookie shop.

I love having a few easy activities ready for those afternoons when it’s already getting dark and everyone needs something to do. You can print just one page for a quiet moment at the kitchen table or choose a handful to make your own little winter activity pack.
Everything is free to download, with no sign-up needed. Below, I’ve grouped the pages into games and puzzles, drawing and coloring, learning activities, and writing and keepsakes so you can find something your child will enjoy.
Winter Games and Puzzles
A little searching, matching and puzzling for kids who like having a challenge to finish.
1. Winter I Spy
Look through the winter pictures and count the snowmen, mittens, hot chocolates, hats, snowflakes and ice skates. Write each total in its box, then color the pictures when you’re done.

2. Help the Penguin Maze
This little penguin needs help finding his fish! Follow the winding paths to find a way through the maze. There’s also a separate answer sheet if you need a helping hand.

3. Snow Day Bingo
A snowman, a cozy mug and a little penguin are among the pictures on this winter bingo page. For an easy indoor game, have a grown-up call out the pictures in a mixed-up order while children color them in and try to complete a row.

4. Mitten Mix-Up
Somebody has mixed up all the mittens! Look closely at the stripes, hearts, stars and zigzags, then draw lines to put the matching pairs back together.

5. Winter Picture Sudoku
Fill the empty spaces with snowflakes, mittens, snowmen and penguins. Each picture belongs once in every row and column, making this a lovely little thinking activity for children who enjoy picture puzzles.

6. Winter Word Search
Find 12 winter words, including snowman, cocoa, scarf and frost. The words run across from left to right, so this is a nice page for children getting used to word searches.

7. Winter Word Scramble
Can you untangle the mixed-up winter words? Use the word bank at the bottom for a little help, then write each answer on its line.

8. Winter Dot to Dot
Connect the numbers from 1 to 30 to finish the penguin’s snowy home. Once the dots are joined, there’s a whole little winter scene to color.

Winter Drawing and Coloring Activities
These pages leave plenty of room for children to add their own ideas. Bright pink snowmen and rainbow winter hats are very welcome here!
9. Build a Snowman
Draw a face and your favorite accessories onto the blank snowman. There are hats, a scarf, buttons and other little details around the page to help get the ideas started.

10. My Dream Hot Chocolate
What would go on top of your perfect hot chocolate? Fill the smiling mug with marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate or whatever delicious toppings you can imagine.

11. Design a Winter Hat
Give this big bobble hat a brand-new look. Try stripes, hearts, stars or zigzags using the pattern ideas at the bottom, or invent a design of your own.

12. Design a Polar Bear Scarf
This sweet polar bear has a very long scarf waiting to be decorated. Fill it with colorful patterns and give him the coziest winter outfit.

13. Decorate the Ice Castle
Add patterns and colors to the towers, flags and doorway of your own ice castle. There’s also a small counting activity underneath with stars and snowflakes.

14. Build a Winter Robot
Invent a robot that’s ready for snowy weather! Add winter-ready parts, give your robot a name and explain how its special invention helps.

15. The Great Sled Race
Design a speedy sled, invent its boosters and choose a team name. Don’t forget to write a finish-line cheer for your snowy racing team!

16. Cute Penguin Coloring Page
This cheerful penguin is popping out in front of a giant snowflake, with snowballs flying below. It’s a fun choice when your child just wants to settle down with the crayons.

Winter Learning Worksheets
These free printable winter worksheets mix counting, patterns, observation and a little animal research with plenty of pictures to color.
17. Winter Count and Graph
Count the mittens, snowflakes, penguins, hats and sleds, then color the graph to show how many you found. Start at the bottom of each column and compare the totals when you’ve finished.

18. Polar Bear Cookie Shop
Step inside a very cute cookie shop! Count the different cookie shapes on the tray, then decorate the big blank cookie with your own icing design.

19. Finish the Winter Patterns
Look at the pictures in each row and work out which two should come next. Draw the missing pictures to finish the snowy patterns.

20. Snowflake Symmetry
Complete the missing half of each snowflake using the dotted mirror line as your guide. Take your time looking at the shapes and where each branch belongs.

21. Snowflake Factory
Four more snowflakes are waiting for their other halves! This second snowflake drawing page gives children another set of shapes to finish and color.

22. Winter Clothing Sort
Cut out the clothing pictures and sort them into “Warm for Winter” and “Not for Winter.” Glue them into the correct groups and chat about what you would wear on a cold, snowy day.

23. Snow Day Weather Station
Become a little weather presenter and draw today’s weather on the television screen. Then look at the clothing pictures below and choose three things to wear on a snowy day.

24. Winter Alphabet Hunt
Find, draw or write winter things in the alphabet boxes. You can work on it together, and it’s absolutely fine to skip a tricky letter and come back to it later.

25. Winter Animal Fact File
Choose a penguin, polar bear, Arctic fox, snowy owl or seal to learn about. Draw your animal and fill in facts about its home, food, movement and how it stays warm.

26. Feed the Yeti

Make a Little Winter Memory Book
Choose a few finished pages, such as the five senses sheet, story starter and winter wish wand. Add your child’s name and the date, make a simple card cover and fasten the pages together. You’ll have a little book of their winter drawings and ideas to look back on.
Create a Cozy Winter Display
Color the winter hats, polar bear scarves and snowmen, then display the finished pages together on a wall or noticeboard. You could add cotton wool to a hat’s bobble or small pieces of colored paper to a scarf for a little extra texture.
Have a Crafty Winter
I hope these free printable winter activity sheets give you a few easy ideas for keeping little hands busy at home. Whether you need something for a rainy afternoon, a snow day or that little stretch of time before dinner, it’s lovely to have a few pages ready to print without lots of planning or supplies.
My favorite thing about these winter activities for kids is how much room there is for their own ideas. A hot chocolate piled impossibly high with marshmallows, a rainbow scarf or a wonderfully silly winter story can make the finished pages feel so personal. Pop a few crayons on the table, let them choose a favorite and see where their imagination takes them.
And do save a page or two with their name and the date. Those little drawings and funny answers might just become your favorite keepsakes from this winter!
Winter Activity Sheets: Your Questions Answered
A little help with printing, choosing your pages and getting everything ready for a cozy afternoon of winter fun.
How do I print the winter activity sheets?
- Choose the activity you would like and open its download link.
- Save the file to your device and open it.
- Select your paper size and choose “Fit to page” in your printer settings.
- Print, grab your pencils and crayons, and you are ready to go!
Ordinary printer paper works well for these activities. You can print just a few favorites instead of the whole collection.
Are these winter activity sheets free?
Yes! All 30 winter activity sheets are free to download and print, with no sign-up needed. Just choose the pages you fancy trying.
What ages are these winter worksheets suitable for?
There is a mixture of activities for different abilities. Younger children can enjoy coloring, designing a winter hat and matching mittens, with a little help where needed.
Children who are ready for more of a challenge can try the word puzzles, picture sudoku, counting graph and creative writing pages.
What supplies will we need?
For most pages, paper, a pencil and some crayons or coloring pencils are all you need. The winter clothing sort also needs scissors and glue, with a grown-up helping little ones with the cutting.
If you want to get a little crafty, try adding cotton wool to a winter hat or scraps of colored paper to a scarf design.
Is there an answer sheet for the penguin maze?
Yes! There is a separate answer sheet for the Help the Penguin maze, in addition to the 30 activity pages. Keep it nearby if your little puzzler gets stuck.
Are all the winter activities coloring pages?
There is plenty to color, but the collection also includes matching games, a maze, a word search, counting, drawing prompts, writing activities and more.
You can pick a quiet coloring page one day and a little puzzle challenge the next.
Can we enjoy these activities without snow?
Absolutely! You do not need a snowy garden to design an ice castle, invent a winter robot or draw your dream hot chocolate. Most of these pages are ready to enjoy indoors, whatever the weather.
Which pages make sweet winter keepsakes?
I would choose the Winter Five Senses page, Winter Wish Wand and Winter Story Starter. They capture your child’s own thoughts, wishes and imagination.
Add their name and the date, then tuck the finished pages into a folder or make a little winter memory book.
